What is Covered Under Natural
Attachment’s Fees?
- All
Prenatal Care - including all prenatal visits (I see most women once a
month for 30 weeks, every two weeks until 36 weeks, then every week
until the baby is born.) If more visits are needed, they are also
included.
- Complete
care during labor & delivery - I stay with you at your home
through
out the labor, birth and postpartum period.
- Postpartum
Care through 6-8 weeks for both mother & baby - This includes
home
visits at 24-36 hours, 4 days, 2 weeks, 4 weeks and 6 or 8 weeks
postpartum. If more are needed, they are included.
- Birth
Assistants - If I have birth assistants at your birth they are most
often my apprentices. There is no extra charge for these birth
assistants. However, on rare occasions I may recommend we call in an
additional midwife. Should such a need arise, we will discuss your
options and there may be an extra charge involved, depending on the
situation.
- Any herbs or homeopathic supplements supplied by
Natural Attachment to benefit
your pregnancy, lactation or newborn’s health.
Expenses that are NOT included in our fee:
- Birth
Kit – I will provide you with information on how to order
your
birth kit. You should order your kit early enough to have it available
from 36 weeks on. The birth kit contains the consumable items we use
for a birth (sterile gloves, bed pads, antiseptic scrub, etc).
- Sonograms/Ultrasounds
- I do not routinely request sonograms. However, if you desire one or
if we need one, the cost is extra. You may go to any lab/clinic/doctor
of your choice. Most providers’ fee is usually around $200.
Most
will accept insurance as well as Medicaid/Medicare.
- Diagnostic
Lab Work - I make every effort to limit lab and diagnostic tests or
omit them altogether unless I feel they are truly necessary to ensure
safety for you and your baby. If any are needed, you will be required
to pay your choice of provider for those lab expenses.
- Vitamins
and Medications - You will be asked to purchase and take some good
prenatal vitamins throughout your pregnancy. If you ever need any
medications such as antibiotics or Rhogam (for mothers with RH- blood),
this will be an extra expense paid to your physician.
- Physician
Consult or Care - Most women never need to see a physician while under
my care. However, should you need or want a physician referral; you
will need to pay for his or her services separately.
Are Your Fees Covered by Insurance?
I
am sorry, but currently in the state of Pennsylvania non-nurse midwives
can not accept or file claims for insurance coverage for their clients,
in part due to the legal climate of non-nurse midwifery in Pennsylvania.
State
Medicaid/Medicare does not pay for home birth or non-nurse midwife
services. If you are on Medicaid/Medicare and desire a home birth,
please discuss your situation with me as soon as possible to take
advantage of my Reduced Payment Options.
We
are an Equal Opportunity Service. Our services are available to all
healthy, empowered women and their babies regardless of religion, race,
alternative lifestyles or ethnic origin.
We
have client visits scheduled for afternoons and evenings as
a service to working mothers and their families.
If
you live in Pittsburgh, PA or within 30 - 45 minute drive radius from
zipcode 15212 and would like to schedule a visit, please e-mail Michele.
