Week in Review – A Photo Journal

Here are some snippets from last week.

We took part in some ‘bus stop karate’.

Finally took a picture of the infamous ‘hula hoopers crossing’ sign.

Played with sand.

Played with millet.

Played in sand.

Played with water.

Put on a puppet show.

Played with a red balloon in and around an abandoned, almost post-apocalyptic-esque and defunct public fountain.

Took picture of self.

Took picture of mum (who felt about the way she looked!).

Took picture of mum & dad.

We had a busy week!

    Hey Michelle,
Great to see these pictures of your family. Contentment and satisfaction seem woven through the fabric. And is that really a hula hoop? How wild!

Sarah- Thanks! I realized just now that the only picture with Elijah’s face in it was the one he took of himself!

Gillian- Thanks for stopping by. It is really a hula hoop sticker. We saw this sign a year and half or two years ago and have been meaning to take a picture of it…we finally got around to it. I guess someone thought that it would be a great subversive thing or slight ‘dig’ at ‘the man’ to turn a crossing sign into a hula crossing. I find great joy in the concept!

Hi! I am fairly brand new to the internet. I am 46-am raising 5 very eccentric children. All want to change the world. My oldest two dropped out of public school. My daughter will be moving to Arizona next month to further her now college experiences in archeology. My son is still finding his way. He’ll no doubt do what his sister did and get his GED and go to college somewhere. The middle child tried cyber school-wants to go back to public. He’s aware of the potential stifling nature of his decision-but wants to hang with friends this year. I know he’ll do fine.He gets the broader picture of life. Fourth child wants cyber school for the structure. She realizes most of her schooling is the gazillion books she reads. Photography is one of her things. She gets anxious when it comes to following rules. I tend to bend rules. My oldest son was has a life-threatening illness. I started homeschooling 5 years ago in Florida-my 4th child and my youngest son. My daughter was like I said, concerned with rules and such and self motivated herself to “perfom” to the expectations of the state. My son could have cared less. I chose to pour my energies into my other child and ignored my youngest’s “appearnce” of lack of learning. As of today my sick son is not out of the woods but much has improved. I now can focus on guiding my other son. Two years ago I learned of unschooling. I still didn’t know how to use a computer-so I didn’t explore much. But I am convinced it’s not only the way to go but I do realize that the “appearance” of lack of learning is just that. We moved to Pa two years ago. I now desperately need help to navigate through all of the state “requirements”. Your site here drew me in. I’m placing faith in thinking you may be willing to help me. The E-mail address is my little guys. I would do much better with a phone call if possible. I have a school district asking for forms and saying it’s too late so I have to put my kid in public school. I’m just noe getting a break from my sick kid and putting Aiden in public school is the LAST thing I want to do!!!! Please help! Sincerely, Mary—-[blog author edited out phone number for privacy]—-( I will check this email but would much prefer a call!) Thankyou!

Mary- I’ll get back to you ASAP. Thanks for visiting my blog. I edited out your phone number, because I am sure you don’t want the entire world having access to it :)
