Yes Matthew, it is. Those of us raising our children like this want our children to grow up being internally motivated by their own Principles to 'do the right thing' and NOT coerced into doing something by a rule/law/parental force for fear of punishment.

Thanks for the comment Idzie. I understand how it might seem impossible to have one parent on board and another not and to still live a radical unschooling life. As you know, children are smart and adapt easily to various people and situations. From what I have heard and experienced myself, if one parent is on board and really lives and models the life s/he wants and the other parent sees the joy that abounds between the first parent and the children, s/he will want to join in soon enough and try to embrace this new way of thinking about children and life.

Also, there are aspects of our life that are much more 'radical' than probably most radical unschoolers, because we are Anarchists. Speaking of which, I enjoyed reading your post here: http://yes-i-can-write.blogspot.com/2008/12/why-im-anarchist.html

I really enjoyed reading this post. Although my family isn't really a radical unschooling family, I wish we were (since all members of the family don't agree to that, it can't really be done...), and I certainly plan on raising my own children, when I have them, in as much freedom as possible (aka radical unschooling all the way!)!
