one hundred things – part 6

51. If you didn’t order any GS Cookies this year, which kind would you most likely be accused of swiping off a co-worker’s desk? Thin Mints or those peanutbutter things. Side note: ‘peanutbutter’ should be one word.

52. What’s your dream car? A converted Bluebird bus, but I’ll settle for a hearse.

53. What household chore do you dislike the most? Vacuuming, but thankfully, we have very little that actually needs to be vacuumed.

54. Is there an actor or actress whom you dislike so much that you wouldn’t even see a movie or TV show they were in? No one comes to mind at the moment, but I’ll update if I think of someone.

55. If you had a band, what would you name it? Bitches w/ Kittens, Queer Agenda, Metal Mouse, and I’m sure I can think of others…

56. If when you got to work today, someone told you that you and all of your co-workers had been given a mandatory day off, what would you do with your day? Go back to bed.

57. What one object in your home or apartment are you most embarrassed about owning? Nothing comes to mind…

58. If you were offered the opportunity to have cost-free and risk-free plastic surgery, would you? If so, and you’re comfortable sharing, what do you think you’d have done? I really don’t think I would have anything done. I might change my mind later in life, but I’m pretty happy with me.

59. Would you rather vomit marbles or sweat cheese? Vomit marbles. Hands down.

60. What’s your favorite line to quote from a movie? Favorite? My gods, I love so many!

Hello, you’ve reached the winter of our discontent. ~ Reality Bites

I’m bursting with fruit flavor ~ Reality Bites

Oh, for goodness sakes, get down off that crucifix. Someone needs the wood. ~ The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert

How do you like them apples? ~ Good Will Hunting

Fear is the mind-killer. ~ Dune

I’ve seen things in this city that make Dante’s Inferno read like Winnie The Pooh. ~ Shadow Hours

Bazaar. Kind of sums up my whole life to this point. ~ Shadow Hours

Do you want an opinion or an alibi? ~ Go Ask Alice

Damn the man. Save the Empire. ~ Empire Records

There are more, but I have a habit of quoting movies.

Unconscious Mutterings 03.27.2011

  1. Recommendation – something people do for other people or institutions when they think they know what the other person(s)/institution wants.
  2. Toilet paper – something we stopped using a few years ago (we ‘went cloth’).
  3. Scissors – cutting out a bunch of tiny little pieces of paper and making a mess.
  4. Blaze – a character from the Amber Chronicles.
  5. Frame – trying to figure out what I’m going to do with the empty picture frames on my balcony — maybe use them in the garden.
  6. Process – my life; no, seriously, it’s a never-ending process.
  7. Flight – when you drive by a completely snowy cemetery during the Winter & it’s covered in rooks who, take flight all at once as you drive past.
  8. Irish – potatoes! Oh, and a historically rich example of how organized religion can divide & ruin a people.
  9. Glasses – I recently got new ones!
  10. Campaign – Presidency.

Friday Fill-In 03.25.2011

1. Why does it always seem like the good moments never last long enough?

2. Cause is equal to effect (causa aequat effectum).

3. My favorite breakfast includes pink toast, juice (preferably a dark juice like blueberry-pomegranate), fruit & tofu scrambler (sometimes with some black beans thrown in for good measure).

4. Opening Up, by Tristan Taormino was the last book I read cover to cover & didn’t want to throw it against the wall or across the room.

5. I am SO glad it’s finally Spring!

6. Chai in a warm mug & sunshine on my toes would make me feel better right now.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to watching more Jeremiah with William & working on my sewing project, tomorrow my plans include more work on my sewing project and Sunday, I want to set up the new large calender in the playroom — (I know, sounds like a rather eventful weekend, ha)!

62 posts straight until I took the last two days off from blogging. Not a bad run for me. Two months of blogging nonstop, every day. I don’t know if I can keep it up, in reality. However, I will stay on top of my scheduled appearances on Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon & Wed.

But, if there are things that you want to know about or want me to blog about, feel free to leave a comment with your request.

bloggy & spring

Filed under: Education,Life,Radical Unschooling — Tags: , , , , , — michele james-parham @ 8:14 pm

i’ve spent the last two days working on a slight overhaul of E’s blog; checking for broken links & making some small changes that he asked for. i think we’re both reasonably happy with it for the time being. go check it out if you want to.

*********

i don’t think i will be posting a picture for Wordless Wednesday tomorrow, because i don’t have any pictures that are just screaming to be posted… but, something might change at the last minute.

*********

i’m so happy that Spring is finally here. i’ve been able to open doors & windows to let in fresh air & sunshine — glorious. i have seeds that i need to start sprouting soon. i can’t believe that it will be time to get back to the garden soon! i don’t have my raised beds like i was hoping for, but things will be alright. *must remember to put a pot of catnip on the balcony for the kitties.*

one hundred things – part 5

41. If you had the talent to compete for a medal, which Olympic sport(s) — summer and/or winter — would you choose to participate in? Gymnastics.

42. When you get home from work, do you keep your work clothes on or do you immediately change into something else? Well, when I worked retail I rarely ever bothered to change clothes, unless I was doing something that required a change of clothing. Now, when I attend at birth, I usually change clothes when I get home – as I usually *need to*!

43. What, if anything, never fails to give you the shivers? clowns.

44. What’s your favorite board game of all time? Scrabble.

45. If you were to trade your current license plate in for a vanity plate, what letters or word(s) would you choose for your new plate? INDEED (some of you are laughing while reading this). Or, maybe, MUM2U (because let’s face it, I *am* mum to many – oddly, some of them are older than I…).

46. Have you ever used a fire extinguisher? Yep, but it wasn’t a scary moment & hopefully I won’t have one of those.

47. If you could be any cartoon character for a day or two, which one would you be, and why? First thing that came to mind was Rainbow Brite, but I don’t think I really agree with that. I really like Pink Panther and Ickis from Aaahh!!! Real Monsters.

48. Do you collect anything in particular? Magnetic compasses (high school science teacher got me started on this by giving me my first one – thanks jerrod howard). Tea Pots. Glassware (more specifically earthenware mugs). Frankoma Pottery.

49. What’s in the trunk of your car right now? A Razor scooter, old shoes & clothing for donation, bag of trash, empty flask, box of Kleenex, probably one of William’s work shirts & jumper cables.

50. Have you ever lied about your age? Yes.
