:: Art ::

I started doing Sharpie doodling last year when I was laid up in bed with my broken tibia. I’ve kept up with doing at least one artistic piece a month for awhile now. Collages, ATCs (artist trading cards) and various Sharpie drawings have been my main foci.

Doing the drawings and such has given me an easy artistic outlet and by the nature of the projects, I don’t have to get them done in one sitting — which is very important for a parent or otherwise busy person.

Working on my doodling has been rather therapeutic for me. It’s given me something to channel energy into that might have been used in less rewarding ways.

I’ve never thought of myself as much of an artist. I never did until my senior year of high school when I took an art class just to fill up time. But, I did really awesome in that class; I always did my own thing by altering the assignments to my liking and whatnot. I even had a large and rather beautiful pointillism piece get placed into the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. I had always gravitated towards handicrafts more (sewing, crocheting, etc.), but that art class showed me that I could paint, draw, sculpt, make paper and all sorts of mixed media love, if I really wanted to do it.

So, today, I’m sharing with you a slideshow of recent doodles and drawings. I still need to find some of my earlier pieces and include them as well. Check back often at this post or at the link to my ‘arting’ from the ‘About’ page to see new pieces as they get added.

    I love your art work. I’m especially fond of the black and whites….love the one with a bird in the middle. Thanks for posting it, you are quite the artist.
