Friday Fill-In 03.04.2011

1. Bring your favorite tea to my house and let’s have a nice afternoon sipping from warm earthenware mugs while the children run amok.

2. Not that we are a family who routinely buys things which need batteries, but it makes life so much easier on everyone when the batteries are included.

3. She is exactly as I always figured she’d be.

4. Well, you see, it’s hard to explain, but in the end, against all odds, everything usually works out for those who are involved – well those that need it to work out, at least.

5. I hope I get to visit ‘home’ again or have people from ‘home’ visit me soon!

6. But what if we had stayed right where we were?

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to being home with my family, even if I step out for a little bit on my own, tomorrow my plans include cleaning up the playroom and Sunday, I want to make mushroom and rice soup!

maps, they’re awesome & friday fill-in 02.25.11

this is friday’s post… it’s appearing a day late, but magically has friday’s date attached to it. magic.

maps. maps are nice. i have developed a secret fetish for maps i think. it’s more the looking at them; maps from various different cities and countries and thinking about how they came to look the way that they do. for instance, if you look at a map of the mid/southwest, you will find that almost all of it is a perfect grid-like design. however, if you look at a map of say, Pittsburgh, you will see that it is clearly a plateful of spaghetti or rather that’s what its design influence appears to be. i know a lot of street layout has to do with topography, but sometimes, just sometimes, i think developers want to have fun with aerial photographers and people in planes.

maps are also awesome for wallpaper, wrapping paper, scratch paper, notebook covers, drawer liners and a whole host of other creative ideas.

Friday Fill-In 02.25.11

1. Ooooh, I totally see what you did there!

2. I’m wishing that the weather would make up it’s mind; this hot one day and cold the next - I can’t stand it!

3. How the heck did I end up with so many books, boxes of tea and skeins of synthetic yarn?

4. The beach/ocean, hands down, is one of my favorite places to visit.

5. I’m not a trouble maker, I’m not!

6. It’s really hard for me to get into a fiction book; it has to be good.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to going out to see friends, tomorrow my plans include laundry (!) and Sunday, I want to catch up on sleep, but I can’t because I’m kidsitting!

i’m in the process of getting today’s (saturday’s) post done. it’s the weekly gratitude post and i’ve got lots to be grateful for!

Friday Fill-in

1. New experiences and possibilities are what make our lives exciting and worth living.

2. It’s entirely possible that an unexpected turn on a daily walk could lead you down a different street, full of people and places just waiting for you.

3. I’m looking forward to really living, with my full self – so far, even when it sucks, it just feels better.

4. Being able to say how we feel and express what we need feels awesome, but it’s an awesome that I would never have imagined.

5. Try to find something magical in each day – I promise there’s plenty to choose from.

6. My ability to bounce back and just keep on giving is what’s extraordinary about me.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to spending time with a friend & her family while we celebrate her birthday, tomorrow my plans include hanging out with another friend (we’re going to make collages) and Sunday, I want to take advantage of extra snuggling time since I don’t have to get up early to kidsit!

books, soup, sony and stuff

did yinz know that Sony is a crybaby?

books arrived today. Women Who Run With the Wolves (which I mentioned here), Goddesses in Everywoman: Powerful Archetypes in Women’s Lives and Opening Up (which I had a copy of ages ago, but I’ve decided to read it again – rereading this book actually makes polyamory, in any shade, less attractive and that’s not the feeling I walked away with when I read it back in 2008… there’s a lot of “just get over it” in the book – rather invalidating for a lot of people I would assume… hhhmmmm… and I’m a huge fan of Tristan and her work).

I’m thinking about trying to do the Friday Fill-Ins… I’ll give it a go this coming Friday and we’ll see what happens.

* and no, I didn’t forget to link to a picture or recipe. I made potato & leek soup, was eating it while blogging and thought I should pass along the concept of such wholesome goodness… that is all.

UPDATE: apparently, I’ve done a Friday Fill-In before! Well, we’ll try that again ;-)

Friday Fill-Ins

ffi

1. I grew up thinking I had to do a lot of things, but learned that there’s really very little in this world that I have to do, but rather a lot of things I want to do.

2. Pittsburgh Food NOT Bombs was the last website I was at before coming here.

3. Why don’t you tell someone you know just how much they mean to you?

4. Breathing. Intentional breathing helps me relax.

5. Thanks for the recent words of encouragement Faith.

6. Playgrounds with long lists of ‘rules’ are very off-putting.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to relaxing with my Dear Other Half, tomorrow my plans include grocery shopping, picking up ice cream for our party later on in the month and watching the movie Up with the family (and some family friends) and Sunday, I want to get some much needed rest and finish up the laundry that I keep putting off!
