“[shrug] I just do my best to help them shine their divine, sparkly Light.” ~ Ordinary Life Magic: on teaching
“When school is gone, life will be left.” ~ Just Add Light and Stir
I’ve written *A LOT* about Unschooling on this here blog in the past. There’s still more to be said, I’m sure!
These days our unschooling looks a lot like:
Stjepan Hauser and Luka Sulic – Smooth Criminal which did lead to this Michael Jackson – Smooth Criminal
Homestar Runner
American Parkour and Russian Ninjas, Russian Climbing Ninja, Parkour in Latvia
Wednesday
Kina in South America!
Uriel Fury
Lego Board Games
Note Cards (lots of those)
Weird and crazy math problems made up for me to solve (yeah, because I have *nothing* better to do)
Countless “Let’s Play” videos on YouTube.com
Wikipedia (so much so, that we’re HIGHLY considering purchasing this)
Little Big Planet on the PS3
People (new friends, old friends, mum & dad’s new friends)
Oh Yeah!
And Food… narrowing down what it is that E doesn’t like while prodding to see what he *does* like
And of course there’s more, there always is more and more and more. It’s all life and no school. It’s Winter too – would be nice to be able to leave the house and not have to freeze. Speaking of freezing, these look cozy, but not nearly as effing cute as these (and those are made by grown unschooler, Dagny Kream).
Those of you still wanting more information on Unschooling can email me, find me on Facebook or just start reading here.
I had dissapeared for awhile. My computer died at the start of October & I only recently got a new one. It’s tiny (7.5 inches) & temporary, but it works, allows me Facebook time (which is dangerous) & it will force me back into blogging…which is good since I’ve been nominated for Best Unschooling Blog here! Vote for me if you like, but I’m up against some tough competition!!!
I’ll be back soon…have a million pictures for you & life updates. But for now, at least you know why I’ve been absent & that I didn’t fall off a cliff!
Peace & Love
~M
I’ve been busy, unmotivated (funny how you can be both those things) and not feeling bloggy lately. It’s not that I don’t have thoughts, pictures & discoveries to share…it’s just that I either never have the time, don’t “feel it” when I have the time or I blatantly put off blogging.
So…I’m here to play catch-up. I have CSA pictures, pictures of missing teeth, thoughts on the Northeast Unschooling Conference & Pittsburgh G20, insights into E’s birthday week (yep, he’s 6 now…holy fuck, 6 years old) and some other random-ness for you all.
Up first is a post with pictures of the last few weeks worth of CSA deliveries. Cut me some slack and by the end of the night, I should have everything posted and updated.

even 5 yr old boys understand ice cream tastes better out of 'pretty' cups
Just a little cup that I picked up from the thrift store a few weeks back. Elijah immediately thought that it was the perfect ice cream cup. So, it now lives in his kitchen drawer. Life is Good!
Just thought I’d let everyone know that I am doing much better. I have very little pain in my ribs now and I have actual range of motion in my torso! I’m a fast healer. The kiddo is perfect…as usual! I’ll be back on the blog soon to give a rather lengthy and thorough review of John Holt‘s book Escape From Childhood. Very. Brilliant. Book.
Gillian has asked some fellow bloggers to join her in posting about what we are grateful for. So, here I am.
I am grateful…
for the billions of years of sustainability of the Earth.
for countless lives lost, given and taken in the name of Freedom from oppression.
for my Son, who is the reason I have become a Beautiful Butterfly.
for my love, my other half, my partner in this Universe…he keeps me breathing while I am trapped in this body and reminds me that there is more to ‘it’ than ‘just this’.
for rain showers, which sometimes have the ability to conjure up a climactic emotional release that is so great…sometimes, sex is no match for a rain shower.
for joyous smiles on little ones, stained with laughter…or stained with chocolate.
for things that come in their own packages, like oranges and watermelons.
for people who don’t keep track of who bought coffee or lunch last time.
for the power of potential destruction held in a delicate balance between (almost too many) grasshoppers in a field, leaping, crossing paths, but never quite touching.
for those who have given me love, a leg up, a hand out and the ability to just be me (even when it’s at the most inconvenient time).
What are you grateful for?
