Also*
Turnips w/ Greens
Bag of Salad Mix
12+ Baby Carrots w/ Greens
Arrowhead Cabbage
Broccoli
Mystery Greens (I believe they are young Collard Greens)

* some of those listed under ‘Also’ were substituted in place of the half dozen eggs that non-vegan shares get AND apparently, after making a complaint about my bag of salad mix from last week being sub-par, I got a lot of things to replace them and to make up for them being crappy. PCFA gets my vote so far for Best Pittsburgh CSA!

1st & 2nd CSA of 2010

This year, we decided to try a different CSA arrangement. The last two years we had been using Kretschmann’s Farm, but this year, we’re using Penn’s Corner Farmer Alliance. The following pictures are of the first two CSA shares of the season.

2010CSA-1

First CSA Share (23 more to go)

Rome Apples
Red Leaf Lettuce
Black Seeded Lettuce
Scallions
Cabbage
Beet Greens (with a couple incredibly freaking cute tiny baby beets)
Strawberries
Sugar Snap Peas
French Tarragon
Stir-Fry Greens Mix

2010CSA-2

Second CSA Share (22 more to go)

Red & Green Kale
Red Leaf Lettuce
Arrowhead Cabbage
Bag of Salad Mix
8 Baby Carrots w/ Greens Attached
Shelling Peas
Strawberries
Oregano
Chives
Cilantro

The Asparagus, Broccoli and Acini de pepe ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acini_di_pepe ) were all purchased at the Bellevue Farmer’s Market down the street from the CSA pick-up point.

Hopefully, this year, I can keep up with posting about what we get and possibly how I use some of it.

Catching Up: CSA

I apologize for being seriously behind with posting about our CSA, but life happens, right. Due to lack of motivation, you won’t be getting a list of crate contents like you usually do…just enjoy looking at yummy veggies.

13th CSA: we didn’t get a 13th, because we were out of town and as a result, you get no picture!

14th CSA:

16th CSA:  This was a hectic week and I went grocery shopping on the same day…there just wasn’t time (nor did I have the energy) to unpack it all out on the table for pictures. Sorry.

17th CSA:

And there you have it folks. You are visually caught up with what we’ve been eating from the farm. Yay!
